My hubby is so wonderful! We decided to forego the usual gifts under the tree for each other this year in lieu of a post-Christmas shopping date. But Randy couldn't help it and called my gift a stocking stuffer, even though it would take one gi-normous sock to hold this treat.
I opened the gift and thought I had a bit of heaven -- 4 -- yes, count them, FOUR -- commentaries on the book of Hosea!! Wahoo!! This is hours and hours of fun!! A couple of them have an added bonus of Amos, Joel and Micah. What could be better??
I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on these with a latte and some highlighters. These commentaries are probably my most favorite gift ever.
HOSEA, by James Luther Mays
First published in 1969, this one looks scholarly.
I am giddy.
The Preacher's Commentary, Vol. 22
Hosea/Joel/Amos/Obadiah/Jonah
Lloyd Ogilvie
I have already learned cool stuff skimming the intro.
Interpretation, Bible Commentary for Teaching & Preaching
Hosea-Micah
James Limburg
More devotional. Probably good, but not quite as much to chew on.
Hosea, Joel and Amos
Bruce Birch
Definitely worth a look-see!
