Swimming pools can fly!

Whoduthunkit? My trip to WalMart today ended up being more than I bargained for. I got a little physics lesson out the deal. It started when Zion asked so sweetly for a kid's size swimming pool. He's wanted one since the summer began and I kept thinking they would go on clearance. Now that it's July, I figured I better go ahead and bite the bullet. This one is awesome - plastic with a slide but not too deep. Just perfect. We picked out a pool in the WalMart parking lot, pulled the UPC tag off and went inside to pay. We loaded up the truck with groceries and backed up to load the swimming pool. Ooops. I guess I should've mesaured before I paid for it. There was no way that thing was going in the back of my MumbaHumba SUV. I just bought the Mother-of-all-plastic-swimming pools. So, in good Kelsey fashion, I decided to make lemonade (Randy always says I think I can do anything even when I can't - I prefer to think I am optimistic). That optimism paid off. I found a rope and a couple of ratchet thingys in the truck. After 15 miuntes of trying to figure out the ratchet thingys in the hot sun, I decided, we're just going with the rope. It was only tied on in the very back, but I thought if I go slow enough I could make it home. LOLOLOLOLOLOL. Did you know that if you go 15 mph a swimming pool stays on top of the roof but about 16 1/2 mph is when something begins to create a lift off? So, 15 mph it was. We turned a corner and the pool fell off the top, but thanks to those Girl Scout knots, the pool stayed secured to the back of the truck. Never mind I couldn't see out the back window. I took the back roads and thought I would try to go a little faster now that I was sure it wouldn't fall off. That's not such a bad idea provided there is no one behind you when the pool actually launches into the air. Back down to 15 mph. We are now home with a lovely pool in the backyard and a very happy five year old. I think I will pack up my SuperMom cape and go sit by the waterslide!

You know I'd pay money to see you try to move a couch on that thing... *G*

Your too cute. I remember seeing a guy who had mattresses strapped to his car... coming from Turtle Creek up 75... he had them tied down really well... but lift off occured and the mattress was standing almost straight up....

You guys need a friend with a pickup on call! LOL
