I always said I was made for the Night Watch, but this is not the way I pictured it! The last few nights have been a bit sleepless, as Zoe has decided she loves to be held and is not comfortable in her crib. Now before I get a zillion unsolicited comments, let me just say we were perfectly "Baby Wise" with Grayson after 4 years of Jackson sleeping in our full size bed with us. Eat, play, sleep - cry it out - learn to entertain yourself and wake up happy. He was the Ezzo poster child. Zion apparently forgot to read the book; we had a little harder time teaching him the rules. Zoe is writing her own book - she thinks the Ezzos are kooks.
"Lay me down awake and expect me to go to sleep by myself? HA!" "
"Let me cry it out? No way - I can holler for 30 minutes EASY!"
"Crocodile tears and cuteness works every time!"
I don't know if it is that she is the first girl or that I keep wondering what she went through for 9 months before we got her and feel the need to comfort her every time she cries, but I am about to go dig up that Dr. Spock book I threw away at the last book burning. We all need sleep!
Did I mention I am getting almost zero done around the house because the Princess likes to be held and talked to? Of course, who could blame her? All these fancy baby accessories designed to sooth and comfort and nothing works quite as well as the old fashioned Mommy Cuddle.
I am enjoying this time for sure -- I just wish I wasn't so TIRED all the time!! I keep telling myself, only a few more weeks or months. It's just a minute, really. Uh-oh - the Princess calls. Gotta run.

Have I told you lately that I love you and I'm so really really really PROUD OF YOU! You are awesome! Zoe is the most blessed little girl ever!
My only advice is just LOVE HER and BREATHE! And call me, I'll drop it all to come do your laundry! REALLY i would!
Hang in there Kelsey, it's gonna be worth it all!

*LOL*
Isn't that the truth? While we know as parents that each of children is unique, and has needs and traits that are purely their own, still sometimes our daily expectations are that they will respond like other babies and so even veteran moms get thrown for a loop sometimes.
YES! It's already worth it! It's funny how one baby smile can make you forget how tired you are : )
Tracie -- you rock! We are going to have to help each other with meals, laundry and homeschool soon when Elia comes!!
Oprah had a show on the secret language of babies today. Seems like a timely topic for you. I have it recorded if you are interested. What this lady was able to figure out is amazing. She has actually figured out what they are communicating to us through their pre-cry vocalizations.
Kelsey, my friend was a Marine and he told me this once. I think it is good advice.
"Never stand when you can sit, never sit when you can lie down, never stay awake when you can sleep."
That is literally a mentality in war. Economy of energy and resources. Now you might not be in a war, but you are in a similar scenario with marshalling resources and you dont ever have to apologize to anyone, or critique yourself.
When Zoe is 16 years old, and you watch her be a precious young lady and realize how much has been doen in her life, NO ONE will care about laundry that wasnt done.
You are my hero too!
Her and Arwen must be working on the same book :) Actually Arwen is deciding sleep is better as she gets older...
LOVE YOU!
