Too Much Hebrew Dancing

Maybe I should have stopped when the angel touched my hip last night. But, ya know it was just too tempting -- Julie Meyer singing all that Israel stuff in a slightly minor key with a good beat, the front of the prayer room cleared out for dancing and a hundred people twisting in a circle.....yeah, I couldn't resist. I was clipping right along, singing "Yah!" when all of a sudden a small child (who shall remain nameless but comes from that Southern-Methodist-Fiery-Preacher clan) was trying his own version of the circle dance and went WHAM! against my ankle bone. I was down for the count and managed to crawl over to the steps where I cried my eyes out because it hurt so bad. I was sure it was broken, but hey, it's the prayer room so a bunch of people are shundai-ma-hundai-ing over me and in a few moments it felt a bit better. Not tons of swelling, no real color change -- I just can't put any weight on it. The bone part hurts when I touch it. My toes are a little numb and tingly. Hopefully it's all better in the morning!

Reminds me of the time when I actually DID break my ankle. I had the role of Golde in "Fiddler on the Roof" and we were working late one night on the set, the week before opening night. I was goofing around in the parking lot and landed on my can, via the ankle bone. It immediately turned black and swelled double the size. It was broken and the director mentioned something about an understudy. No honking way! I had taken voice lessons and everything to do this part (any of you who know my singing voice know what I mean!) and I was going to play it well for crying out loud. At the ER, they set a large cast on almost up to my knee. That Sunday, they had an altar call for healing. I didn't think I could make it down with my crutches, so I asked for healing right where I stood. All of a sudden I felt a crack up the cast -- it had split in two!! I went to an ortho doc on Monday and he told me that my ankle was going to be fine - that what he was looking at was scarring from a previous injury. He wrapped it up and I sang and danced my heart out the next weekend. Wahoo!

God, do it again......

L'Chaim!

First, I would suggest if the prayer room didnt cure it, then come by the Prayer Ground.

If that doesnt work, talk to a certain femail Alaskan who returned to KC on crutches and an ankle brace.. if you need items like those, just ask. She had to stay off it for about two weeks.
