The night I posted about the 80's, I went to bed with lyrics going through my head that were not welcome. I haven't thought about some of those songs in 20 years and all of a sudden the words were rushing back through my mind. Call me crazy, and maybe it's because I deeply feel most everything, but it made me ponder the purpose and power of music and it made me so incredibly sad for all those on the entertainment scene who are being used as pawns in the spirit realm without a knowledge of the Holy One. I mean, think about it -- we can remember crazy weird lyrics from songs in our teen years but we can't remember how to do an Algebra problem or who sat next us in Biology in 9th grade or the Bible verse from last week. But set any of that to music and it's set in our minds for years to come. Truly music is a weapon and an opportunity to partner with the heart of the Living God. It's been recently (ok, so in the last, what, 50 years or so?) that scientists have figured out that matter IS music. Like at a level that we cannot see with the naked eye, matter is waves of sound. There are even people out there who make their lives out of creating music from DNA chains. So at our very core and molecular level - WE ARE A SONG. When our song is joined with God'a song, it's harmonic and joyful. When we begin singing another song, we experience dischord and chaos. Chaos - huh - typing as I think - like Genesis 1. Did God SING things into existence?? He will do that in the restoration of all things - Hosea 2 talks about "In that day God will 'respond'". The word "respond" can literally be translated "SING". Ohmygosh - this is so much deeper than I can even begin to think about or blog about with any kind of wisdom. Perhaps that what my spirit was experiencing the night I threw out my YES album -- the invitation to sing and harmonize with a greater song and the Creator of all music. This invokes the fear of the Lord in my heart.

He rejoices over us with singing.
I cannot even imagine the sound of God's voice singing over the nations, and to think he sings over me at just the sight of me.
I don't get that, not one bit.
CS Lewis had a picture of this when he wrote the Magicians Nephew. Aslan sings to the earth, and the creatures materialize out of it.
Music is intense at times. And within the most bizzare times of listening to music, I have had visions (during Whipping Post at an Allmans Brothers concert for one). However, God will continue to use the "secular" world (if there is such a thing) the same as the "sacred". His Spirit, on ALL flesh.
Yes, true, He uses "both realms" (right, is there such a thing??)...but I do believe that those who are not in sync with HIS rhythm, melody, etc. do not serve the greater symphony - they only add to the chaos.
Tracie - oh, I agree! How can we even comprehend the Holy of Holies singing over us?? I wonder if that's what Isaiah saw was God singing over His bride, bringing all back to how He orginially intended in the age to come? And what about the Song of the Lamb? Whoa! Sung in heaven but again joined with the earth at some glorious point in history.....amazing!
All I know is it sure is a lot more fun playing music with understanding and intent than without it. I dont know if God uses me any more because of it, but I like it better this way!!!
