We are home! It felt like planes, trains and automobiles yesterday (minus the trains). The Omega Intensive was fantastic and I have such an affection in my heart for the Hiebert's and Tim Cone! We just could not ask for a better team. Tim with his hymns, Murray on the Millenium, Randy bringing humor to the tribulation and Deborah just being Deborah (let the reader understand...) -- WOW! It was an amazing weekend.
We prayed for an uneventful trip home and almost got it. We had to drive to Nashville to board the plane, so fortunately the sky was clear and bright, the van was warm and cozy, and it seemed perfect for that Sunday afternoon nap we all needed. Somewhere just past Knoxville we came to a dead stop and there was a collective "uh-oh" among us. We have a plane to catch - perhaps we should go off roading. Then there was the cry from the back, "I have to go to the bathroom!" and the cry from the front "I think I'm gonna barf!" Being the sensitive parents we are, we encouraged both children that they were fine. Zion began to wiggle and squirm. Grayson began to turn green. Needless to say, we had to pull over (from the dead stop in the highway) to, uh, take care of these issues.
We made it to the airport with no time to spare, ran the 20 gates and boarded the full flight from the mountains of Tennessee to the plains of Kansas. 2 barf bags later, we landed ready to see our little boy that stayed home from this trip. Never mind that little boys is taller than his dad!
It was good to be with friends this weekend. And now it's good to be home. With a full week of prayer, fasting and conferencing ahead, I am filled with expectation of experiencing the wonder and beauty of God. Even if there aren't any mountains or sweet tea.
